Artist Biography
Amanda Scott was born and raised in the South. While studying at The University of Tennessee, her husband’s grandfather invited her to an art class, which changed the trajectory of her life. Amanda is both hearing and vision impaired, and art has provided her with a constant passion and opportunity to better see and experience the world around her.
Her art career emerged from a love of beauty and the belief that creating a painting is like constructing a new language without words. She continually explores how to best translate the three-dimensional world around her onto the two-dimensional surfaces of her panels. Over the years, Amanda has dedicated many hours to studying under other artists, examining the works of the old masters, and refining her artistic techniques. Amanda creates oil paintings from her studio in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she lives with her husband and their five children. For her, homemaking is an incredibly important art form, and she intentionally focuses on creating a welcoming home that reflects her family’s stories.
She is an enthusiastic art lover with pieces from her travels, local artists, and artwork that evokes meaningful memories. Inspired by the beauty of everyday life, her own post-impressionistic art aims to express her unique perspective while capturing a warm interplay of light. She hopes her art will add a beautiful layer to the story you are telling.
