Dawn Whitelaw maintains a studio in Franklin, Tennessee. Whitelaw is currently on the faculty of the Peninsula School of Art and Portrait Society of America, where she holds the office of Vice Chairman. She was a featured instructor for the National Plein Air Conventions in Nevada and California. She teaches throughout the country by conducting workshops in oil painting principles. In 2014 she was awarded 1st Place overall, and 1st Place Quick Paint at the Piedmont Plein Air Event, 2nd Place in the Door County Plein Air Festival, and 3rd place at the Plein Air Richmond Quick Paint event. In 2012 and 2013, Plein Air Magazine did feature articles on her. Whitelaw has a painting in the permanent collection of the Rahr-West Art Museum.
I paint in response to that moment when environmental conditions make the commonplace appear uncommon. My paintings are an honest statement of what I see.
