Biography
Knoxville artist Nancy Lloyd-Hooker paints landscapes and still lifes in oil. An Ohio native, she signs her work “Cherokee” to honor her grandmother, who was a Cherokee Indian. Nancy remembers her grandmother wearing a very large brim straw hat, long sleeves, dress and apron with large pockets for her line, hooks and a small can of worms. She fished with a very long bamboo pole, tossing her line out by hand. She credits her grandmother for her love of fishing and nature. Nancy’s engineering background helped her develop a strong sense of perspective, visualization and design in her work. She has exhibited in the mid-west and southeast and has won numerous awards in juried shows.
